Peyronie's Disease Treatment Information

Past Peyronie's Treatments

There IS a Cure / Treatment that works!

I've laid out my treatment process here for you to read in full. I think an educated person when it comes to this disease is important. I also think you should make your own mind up on what you think will work and not rely 100% on a Urologist sometimes. Many Urologists are stuck in 1980 and don't know much about or refuse to acknowledge Peyronie's fully. If you don't want to read the entire site and just want to know what worked, Click Here. But I would strongly recommend reading this page in full.

Treatments of Peyronie's Disease

There are many potential cures for Peyronie's, although only a handful have been proven successful in more than a few cases. There are theories about combinations of herbals and vitamins working to break down the plaque, but most doctors consider this a placebo effect. I am going to go over the treatments I have had first and then some of the others that I have read about but have not tried either because I don't think they would work or I didn't need to. The very last treatment I used was the one that fixed the entire problem. So make sure to read my last treatment because it's really the one you should consider.

Treatment 1. Injections

One of the first treatments I tried was Verapamil (ver-APP-uh-mill). The idea of an injection seemed like the easiest solution to the problem. I was prescribed quite a bit, and I was taking a shot a week. The first thing I noticed was an obvious decrease in pain. The biggest problem I had was the pain endured when I had an erection. Verapamil got rid of that pain for me almost completely. After a month I had noticed a slight decrease in the curve. After 2 months I had not seen any more progress and stopped taking the injections so I could try something else.

I was warned strongly against taking Viagara during the injections. At least 24 hours before I took my shot I had to be clean of it. I am not sure the reason but I thought I would relay that information. Acetyl-l-Carnitine was also suggested liquid form 2mg per day. It can be purchased at a vitamin store like GNC.

Verdict: I was happy with the fact that it eliminated the pain. However with maybe a 5% improvement in the curve I had to move on to the next treatment.

Treatment 2. Surgery

The next round of treatment was to involve actual surgery. After the verapamil I was very edgy to get rid of the curvature and the pain that came along with it. I was to go through "the Nesbit procedure" which involves a substantial bend, the surgeon takes segments from the corporal body on the opposite side of the penis to create a straight penis. This method has been used as a standard in surgery and general Peyronie's treatment for dozens of years so I felt comfortable in trying it. The risk is high however. The Nesbit procedure can include post operative erection difficulty, over-correcting, scarring, numbness of the glans, blood collection under the skin of the penis called a hematoma, and wound infection. Even given the high risk I wanted to give it a try. At this point a bit of a desperate feeling was starting to veil over me.

The surgery was not cheap. I was quoted at over $6,000 including post-surgery checkups. The procedure itself was to take several hours. I was told no sexual activity of any kind for at least a month. After the surgery I was put on pain medication, obviously. The pain was unbearable. I had my entire penis ripped apart and cut up.

I could get into details but even thinking about it makes me ill. Bottom line is I spent 2 months unable to use my penis. Urinating hurt beyond belief. Looking at myself made my eyes water. It was the most horrid experience I have ever gone through.

Did it help? Yes it did. I would say it corrected about 25% of the curve. However in all honesty knowing what I know now I would never go through that again. I was lucky in that I didn't lose any length or girth like some men do. I kept my size and it corrected the bend a bit. But it was one of the most awful experiences of my life.

Verdict: If you don't mind being in pain for 2 months, unable to have sex, or urinate without wanting to cry to fix 25% of your curve then this is for you.

Treatment 3. Penis Pump

The "next big thing" in Peyronie's treatment is the infamous penis pump. You've seen them all over porn sites and in sex stores and even in movies like Austin Powers. I was surprised when my doctor prescribed mine to me though. It looked nothing like the cheapo gadgets you see. This device had a very large tube and a hand pump mechanism built on the top. You just squeeze a lever to pump air. It came with a tube of lubricant to place around the edge of the seal to make sure it stays on tight.

My routine was to use the pump 20 minutes per day in the morning, and 20 minutes before bed. 2 minutes with minimum pressure, 3 with medium pressure, 5 with high pressure. I would repeat that twice. Then I would wrap my penis in a warm towel once done to encourage blood flow. I was told that in order to make a lot of progress I would need to do this routine every single day for up to 2 years. For me that was not really an option, so while using this product on a regular basis, I sought out another treatment. When using a pump, an Erectile Quality Monitor is critical in seeing if it works or not.

Verdict: Pumps work to break down tissue. It's a fact. However the amount it breaks down is minimal in the short run and I didn't have the time or patience to wait for 2 years.

Final Treatment. Traction Device

I was hesitant to even give this device a try for a few reasons: 1) It looked too weird. 2) It was expensive. 3) It looked hard to use. Then I remembered I had just spent about $10,000 trying to cure this disease so what is another $300 going to matter? As far as hard to use, I am a programmer I should be able to figure anything out.

Turns out it was not so hard to use. When I ordered it, it arrived pre assembled so all I did was watch the DVD and read the manual to find out how to use it. The information was presented very well.

So what is this thing? The device I went for was recommended to me by my Urologist and it is called Fastsize. This device has apparently been sold on the market for years and is a high quality product. It's a penis tension device that is designed to increase the length and girth of the penis. However due to the nature of how the tension is applied, it stretches the tissue inside of the penis area. This is how it can break down plaque inside: It stretches it out over a daily basis. The stretching causes the plaque to break apart so the body can target it to be removed. The heavy stretching over months causes an increase in length and girth also.

Fastsize was designed to be an enlargement aid. But Larry Levine discovered the product and began a case study. I heard about it from one of the guys doing it and decided to go buy one. I started using it a short period of time but increased the duration quickly and after a week I was using it 8 hours per day. I noticed an improvement immediately.

How long did it take? I spent 3 months wearing this device every single day.

Verdict: This device hands down cured my Peyronie's. I didn't really buy into the concept until I started to use it and felt it stretching the area. This device corrected 90% of the remaining curvature I had. While it was at times uncomfortable, it worked at the end result is all I cared about.

Another ingredient that is recommended for Peyronie's Disease is L-Arginine.
